Telling yourself you will start (again) in the New Year does not help you. Are the holidays really the only time of year we are busy? No. Instead of looking at our seasons of life as all or nothing, we can start looking at it as “shifting” through our different seasons.
When season are busier/stressful/more demanding, we don’t want to switch off. We just shift DOWN. Ask yourself, “What do I need to keep my health a priority, without quitting altogether?” Because, let’s be honest, it is very hard to start back up after quitting for months, even years. What can shifting down look like?
- Less workouts per week, but still getting in 2-3.
- Daily step goals lowered, but still there to keep us moving.
- Prioritizing our sleep the best you can.
- Being conscious of time on social media
- Still focusing on drinking enough water daily and eating nutritious foods.
When seasons settle down and you’re ready, then shift back UP! Get more workouts, increase your steps back up, get focused with your nutrition, etc.
